Tusker House may have been boarded up for a bit, but I’ve still be keeping tabs on the team and the UFL in general. Sharing an office with some of the Tuskers’ staff tends to help too. Still, I received a media advisory today that I found very interesting. The Tuskers will be announcing their new head coach on Tuesday (February 9th) at a press conference in Orlando. Guess who will be there? read more…
I’m considering a comeback of sorts, provided I can work around my very busy schedule with the Predators and it won’t be a conflict of interest. A large, large reason I shut things down to begin with was my opportunity with the Preds, so if I can find the time and get approval from my boss, I’ll be back. If all this goes the way I think it will, I’ll also be considering bringing on a few regular contributors to help carry the load. I’ll have more information later.
I was going to hold off on making this announcement until Monday, but after today’s championship game I just don’t see the point in prolonging the inevitable. More than likely, this is the last post of Tusker House.
I remain hopeful of the UFL’s success and a believer in what the league is trying to do. I just don’t have the time available to write about them anymore. It’s time for me to take my place in the stands as a fan, not a writer. My work with the site has led to some wonderful opportunities in the sports world, so I’m going to follow them and see where it goes.
I’d like to thank Nation Hahn of UFL Access and Rachel Gary, PR director for the UFL, for helping to make Tusker House such a success in it’s short lifetime. I’d also like to thank Kip Watson for being such an excellent co-host of the liveblog sessions. Literally, I wouldn’t have been able to do them without you.
Thanks goes out to the Tuskers’ staff and players for welcoming me into practices to cover them. I know the season didn’t end as we’d hoped, but that’s sports for you. For the last time, to Terrance Melton, it’s a satchel. Not a purse. I can’t keep two cameras and a notebook in one pocket.
Finally, and most importantly, thank you to all of my readers. A blog about a minor league/developmental league football team in it’s inaugural year doesn’t get 28,000+ hits in just 4 months by accident. You guys are largely responsible for my opportunity, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you’re curious about what I’ll be doing next, stay tuned next week. Hopefully I’ll have an announcement for everyone on Monday or Tuesday.
Good luck next year! GO TUSKERS!
If you watched today’s UFL Championship Game, you may have noticed a dominant Tuskers’ defense for much of the game. Then things changed for no obvious reason. It could have been that the Locos finally figured things out. But largely that wasn’t the issue. Key players from the Tuskers’ defense, players that were huge in the first half, had suddenly picked up injuries. Just how severe were those injuries? read more…

It’s the final game of the season, and this one’s for all the marbles. Kip will be joining us live from the press box. Pending family obligations, I’ll be watching the entire game for the first time in a few weeks. Just in case, the session is already active. Because I will be in and out of the session prior to kickoff, I apologize in advance if your comments are not published for a bit.
